A Treasure!

I found a treasure!  A TREASURE, I tell you!

I had to make a trip to Michael's for something. . . I don't even remember what it was now. . .and I thought I would just browse through to see if there was anything fancy that caught my eye.

As I was walking down the aisle with the sketchbooks and journals, I noticed a green journal on the top shelf that had the word "Fabriano" embossed on the front.

Wait. . .what?  Fabriano? At Michael's?!? Oh my . . .

So I very carefully took it from the shelf and opened the cover.  Hmpf . . .not quite what I thought it would be. . .

BUT. . . as I closed the cover, my eye caught a glimpse of a journal on the very bottom shelf with one of those Clearance Tags under it.

Be still my heart . . . could it be that today is going to be a very lucky day?  I knelt down and gingerly picked up the journal. . . and nearly passed out.  It is! It is a Hardcover Fabriano Journal with 110 lb. watercolor cardstock!

Wait.  Is it really on Clearance?  So I lean in a little closer to read the tag. . . .and nearly passed out.  It is!  It is a Hardcover Fabriano Journal with 110 lb. watercolor cardstock on CLEARANCE!

Now, if you don't know about Fabriano cardstock, let me just tell you that it is the most delicious, luxurious, paper for journaling. . . especially if  you like to use spray inks or any other watery type of media . . or acrylic paints . .. or ink pads . . . or spray paint. . . or  . . . well, you get the idea.

So, I stood up (probably a little bit too quickly) and nearly did a dance all the way to the check out.  This journal was definitely going home with me!  Did I mention it was on Clearance???

So . . . here is a picture of the cover just in case you decide to run (not walk) to Michael's and get one of these beauties for you:

And here's a picture of the very first page:

And I'll share more pages later . . .

Thanks for stopping by today . . . my journal is calling me. . .

Best Time of Day to . . .

Am I the only one who accomplishes certain tasks better at particular times of the day? Or night?

I've noticed lately that I have a pattern when it comes to doing certain things . . . pay bills in the morning, clean early, read in the afternoon, and craft at night.

I've always been one to craft at night. Perhaps because I always had a "day job." Even now that I don't have a day job (nor have I had one in quite some time), I still prefer to craft at night. Perhaps, it's because I enjoy the stillness of night. Or perhaps, it's just when I'm most inspired.  There have been many a time when I've stayed up into the wee hours of the morning working away in my studio.

Here are few things I've recently made:
So?  Do have specific times of day that you do certain things?

Zoo Card

I'm in a Stamp Club.  We meet once a month, do a card swap, make a project and enjoy yummy snacks.  I always have a great time with these ladies!

One of our themes was "From the Zoo" and I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use.  Particularly the sentiment stamp . . . which always makes me think of my brother.  He used to torture me with this particular version of Happy Birthday.

I just might have to send this to him for HIS birthday!

What I used:
Monkey stamp by Stampendous
Sentiment stamp by Gina K
Patterned paper by Daisy D's and Amuse
Copic Markers
Nestabilities

Save the Date

Oh yes, I would love for you to save the date for classes. . . but this post is actually about the Save the Date cards I made for our daughter's wedding.

She said she wanted magnets. . .something simple . . .but eye-catching.  I was rather amazed at how much they would be to order them (almost $200.00!), so I made them instead, for roughly $50.00.

Here it is:
I'm happy with how they turned out, but more importantly, the Bride is happy with them.

Stay tuned for more wedding projects coming soon . . .

A very long vacation.  From blogging.

It was needed, but rather than bore you with all the gory details, I'll just jump to the exciting part.  Ready?
